Top 3 Tips for a Low Cholesterol Diet

Low Cholesterol Diet
Great, so hopefully by now you have got the major hint about those Transfats and are ready for some more suggestions to create your low cholesterol diet.

Tip 1. Cut the Alcohol

You must know in your heart of hearts that drinking is not good for you and your body. There is research (I often wonder if it has been sponsored by alcohol companies?) that claims that a glass or two of red wine is good for you and in fact better than none. However, you decide what you think is best.

Also, consider if you are 'able' to drink a small amount of wine without getting carried away. I think that if in doubt it is better to avoid alcohol if you are serious about your diet to lose cholesterol.

Tip 2. Get some good fats

"Hurrah!" I hear you say, "I can still eat fat if I am on a low cholesterol diet?" Of course you can. Not all fats are bad for you, some are essential. Monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats are found in avocado and olive oils for example and really can help to increase your HDL (good!) cholesterol levels. You can even try peanut butter too! Animal, dairy and vegetable fats however need to be binned as they will not help you with your low cholesterol diet.

Tip 3. Feel the force with fiber

The lovely fibers found in oats, veggies and fruits can help you to magically reduce your LDL cholesterol levels and increase the HDL levels at the same time. Every day try to get two servings of these foods and you may see results quicker than you think.
